Author’s Commentary
My dad was a great man who influenced my life to help shape me into the person that I am now. The lessons I learned from what he taught me were that no matter what perceived limitations people may place upon you it should only serve as motivation to push you into becoming a better person. Those perceptions and limitations should not define you as a person nor what you can accomplish. Although he never learned to read or write, the fact of the matter is, that did not stop him from starting up his own business and creating a livelihood that provided a comfortable life for himself and his loved ones. His character was that of a very caring, loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved to entertain family and friends with his funny wit and gift of storytelling.
Many times, on a Sunday afternoon I remember he used to take the grandchildren out for a ride on his tractor. He attached a little wagon on the back of the tractor so that they could all ride in it. At one point he turned too fast and almost flipped all of them over without even knowing they were holding on for dear life. The grandchildren all knew him as Papaw who was always adventurous, daring, and fun-loving. The precious memories we have of him will always be a part of our family legacy!
This book is dedicated to the memory of Dad and to all those who persevere and thirst for truth and freedom found in the Word of God. It points out that even though circumstances look dire God’s grace and mercy will always overcome any obstacle. There is HOPE to move forward into the future when you resolve in your heart and mind the ultimate key to overcoming adversity victoriously. That key is found only through the healing power of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
